DJ LOFT
Solomon Obeng, professionally known as DJ Loft and nicknamed “The Dangerous DJ,” is one of Ghana’s most influential and internationally recognized disc jockeys. He has built a remarkable career over more than a decade through his work on radio, in nightclubs, at major events, and through his celebrated mixtapes.
DJ Loft’s journey in music began in his youth, gaining early recognition for energizing parties and breaking records with his dynamic, fast-paced selections. He transitioned from playing in local nightclubs—such as Cinderella’s and Shakazulu—to becoming a prominent radio DJ. In 2015, he joined Y107.9 FM in Ghana as the DJ for “Ryse n Shyne” and other popular shows, elevating his profile and influence in urban music circles.
As a resident DJ at major venues and on one of Ghana’s leading urban radio stations, DJ Loft became known for his versatility, sharp mixing skills, and ability to create vibrant atmospheres across formats. Beyond radio, he has entertained crowds at high-profile concerts and festivals, including performances alongside global and African artists.
Mixtapes & Global Recognition
DJ Loft’s “Cups & Bass” mixtape series—often alongside MC/hype-man Kojo Manuel—has been a cornerstone of his brand, blending Afrobeats, Amapiano, Afro‑House, and Hip‑Hop into high‑energy experiences that resonate locally and internationally. His mixes and “The Dangerous Mix” series have gained widespread acclaim and airplay across Ghana and beyond.
A major milestone in his career came when he became the first Ghanaian DJ featured in Apple Music’s prestigious Africa Now Mix series, showcasing his ability to transform a curated playlist into a dynamic, culturally rich mix that highlights the heartbeat of contemporary African sound.
DJ Loft’s contributions to music have earned him numerous nominations and awards. He has won Mixtape of the Year at the Ghana DJ Awards three years in a row (2021–2023), as well as titles such as Mobile DJ of the Year and Event DJ of the Year. In 2023, he was also named Best DJ at the Ghana Entertainment Awards USA.
His consistent nominations—including in the DJ Act of the Year category at the 2025 Ghana Entertainment Awards‑USA—underscore his impact and continued relevance in the entertainment industry.
